Jamuna Bank PLC has been awarded as one of the best Climate Focus Banks and Financial Institutions in Bangladesh at the third session of the 24th National Renewals Energy Conference & Green Expo 2024.
The award has been given in recognition of the bank’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and responsible banking practices, according to a press release.
The conference was hosted by the Institute of Energy of Dhaka University and GreenTech Foundation Bangladesh at the university’s Nabab Nawab Ali Senate Bhaban on May 22-23.
Md Prashanta Samir, senior vice president and head of Sustainable Finance Unit, received the award on behalf of Jamuna Bank.
Charles Whiteley, ambassador and head of delegation of European Union to Bangladesh, Achim Troster, ambassador of Germany in Bangladesh, Alex Berg Von Linde, ambassador of Sweden in Bangladesh, Dr Atiur Rahman, former governor of Bangladesh Bank (BB), and Dr Habibur Rahman, deputy governor of BB, attended the programme as special guests.
Sitesh Chandra Bachar, pro-vice chancellor (education) of Dhaka University, chaired the session while Khondkar Morshed Millat, former director of Sustainable Finance Department at BB, adviser at GreenTech Foundation and faculty member at BIBM, moderated it. GreenTech Foundation CEO and executive director Lutfor Rahman coordinated the programme.
