MNT Seed Testing Laboratory — a subsidiary of Lal Teer Seed Ltd — has received the recognition and certificate of International Seed Testing Association (ISTA), the world's highest seed quality control organisation.

It is the country's first seed laboratory to get ISTA certificate. As a result, the certified seeds from this lab will get international standards, which will help to export seeds to any country around the world.

The information was disclosed at a press conference at the main research centre of Lal Teer Seed Ltd in Gazipur’s Basan on Friday.

“High-yielding seeds are most important to grow more crops in less land. Tested by our certified lab, the seeds that will go to the market will be of international quality. Because the seeds will be tested in this lab in accordance with the ISTA standards and the certificate will be given for market releases,” Lal Teer Seed Ltd Chairman Abdul Awal Mintoo and former president of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industries (FBCCI) said.

Lal Teer’s Managing Director Mahbub Anam, General Manager Abdur Rashid and other employees of the company also were present at the programme.
