Mercantile Bank gets licence of Mastercard

Mercantile Bank PLC recently joined hands with Mastercard by securing a licence as a principal member from the global payment technology service provider.

This partnership will extend the bank’s card services, making them more advanced and technology-driven, according to a press release.

Syed Mohammad Kamal, Country Manager of Mastercard, handed over the licence to Morshed Alam, MP and Chairman of Mercantile Bank, at a ceremony held at the bank’s head office in Dhaka. The bank’s Managing Director Md Quamrul Islam Chowdhury delivered a welcome speech on the occasion.

Through this partnership, Mercantile Bank can now provide enhanced payment facilities to its customers worldwide, alongside the existing VISA card services. Customers can enjoy ATM and POS transaction facilities globally wherever Mastercard is accepted.

The ceremony was attended by Al-Haj Akram Hossain (Humayun) and Md Abdul Hannan, Vice Chairmen; MA Khan Belal, Chairman of the Executive Committee; Md Anwarul Haq, Chairman of the Risk Management Committee; ASM Feroz Alam, Chairman of Mercantile Bank Securities Ltd; M Amanullah, Chairman of Mercantile Exchange House (UK) Limited; Mosharref Hossain and Mohammad Abdul Awal, Directors; Jalal Hossain Khan, Shareholder; Mati Ul Hasan, AMD, and Zakia Sultana, Director, Mastercard.

 

Additionally, Md Zakir Hossain, Adil Raihan, Shamim Ahmed, and Ashim Kumar Saha, Deputy Managing Directors; CFO Tapash Chandra Paul, PhD; Shah Md Sohel Khurshid and Mohammad Iqbal Rezwan, SEVPs; Mostafizur Rahman, Head of Card Division and Digital Banking and Innovation Division, along with other senior officials of the bank, were also present at the ceremony.
