Mongla Port Authority has unveiled its Income and Expenditure report for the month of April for fiscal year 2023-2024, showcasing remarkable growth and efficiency in key operational areas.
The report showed that ship arrivals surged significantly in April this year. Total 63 ships arrived in April, 2024 whereas total 52 ships arrived in April, 2023. Total 11 more ships arrived in April this year compared to April last year.
Moreover, cargo handling operations reached new heights. 6.37 lakh tonnes of cargo was handled in April, 2024 while 4.67 lakh tonnes of cargo was handled in April, 2023. 1.70 lakh tonnes of cargo were handled more in April this year.
In container handling, Mongla Port demonstrated exceptional performance. A total of 2.189 TEU containers were handled during the month of April, 2024. On the other hand, a total of 1,822 TEU containers were handled in the month of April, 2023, which means that 367 TEU containers were handled more than in April this year.
Furthermore, revenue income witnessed a substantial surge in April, 2024. This year in April, a total revenue of Tk 24,14,53,000 has been collected. On the other hand, in the month of April, 2023, a total revenue of Tk 20,12,61,000 crore was collected, which means that in the month of April this year, Tk 4,01,92,000 more revenue was collected.
A total of eight container ships arrived in the month of April, 2024 which is a unique record in the history of Mongla Port.
It should be noted that a total of 726 ships have arrived at the port till April, 2024 of the fiscal year 2023-2024, while a total of 708 ships have arrived till April, 2023 of the fiscal year 2022-2023. A total of 18 ships have arrived till April of the current fiscal year compared to the previous fiscal year.
Additionally, a total of five ships, 898 cars, one container ship and one cargo ship arrived at the jetty on Wednesday.
