Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi inaugurated "Chikitsa,'' a personalised healthcare app based on QR code and NFC technology, at the first-ever Digital Pally Smart Village Expo in Damudya upazila of Shariatpur on Friday.
The Ministry of Commerce's Business Promotion Council organised the fair, showcasing 20 innovative initiatives for rural entrepreneurs, read a press release.
The app provides villagers with access to the best medical services and information available in the city, directly on their mobile phones.
The event was presided over by Damudya Upazila Nirbahi Officer Hashiba Khan, while e-Cab General Secretary Mohammad Tamal introduced the Digital Village concept. Tamal explained that the event was organised as a tribute to Bangabandhu's 103rd birth anniversary.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi praised e-Cab's efforts to modernise Bangladesh and stabilise the market during the Covid-19 pandemic. He encouraged attendees to take advantage of the digital opportunities available to them and to help build a smarter Bangladesh.
The minister also shared his personal journey, starting with just 3,000 rupees and now employing over 10,000 people in his company. He emphasised that taking advantage of digital technologies can lead to success and prosperity in the future.
Local Member of Parliament and e-Cab advisor Nahim Razzak, MME Foundation Managing Director Mohammad Mofizur Rahman, Prime Minister's Office SDG Affairs Coordinator Akhtar Hossain, Commerce Ministry Joint Secretary Abdur Rahim Khan, Consumer Rights Director General AHM Safikuzzaman, Foodpander co-founder and Managing Director Syeda Ambarin Reza, and Daraz Managing Director Mustahidal Haque Saeed, among others, attended the event.
