Rabiul Hasan Avi, the director of Ekushey Television, has taken over the responsibility of managing director of Ekushey Television. He will also serve the company's chief executive officer (CEO).

The decision came following unanimous approval in the Ekushey TV Board of Directors meeting, read a press release.

Rabiul Hasan, who has been with Ekushey since its inception, had worked in weekly Bichitra in 1997 and Jugantor in 1999. In 2001, the Ekushey broadcast was halted, but Rabiul remained associated with the company for a couple more years.

He later moved to England for skill development.

Rabiul later joined ATN Bangla London office. In 2013, he returned to Bangladesh due to the illness of his mother Baby Maudud – a comrade of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, writer, journalist, researcher and former lawmaker.

Rabiul was involved in the editing of a research publication on the political life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his role in building an independent state. Later, Rabiul joined Ekushey Television again as the Broadcasting and Marketing Department director.

During his tenure, he toured the remote areas of the country and made a documentary  series titled “Bodle Jawa Bangladesh,” featuring Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s humanitarian initiative Ashrayan Project. This is known as the first serial documentary in Bangladesh.

Rabiul Hasan gained experience in media marketing and management for more than two decades. Besides, he has a knack for writing like his mother, and has been writing since he was a teenager.

He has published several books, including science fiction, while wandering in the literary arena.

Rabiul Hasan Avi is a member of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Memorial Trust and Bangabandhu Memorial Museum. 

He has promised to bring back the old tradition of Ekushey Television, which started its journey with a slogan of promising change.
