Mobile network service provider Robi Axiata Limited reaffirmed its unwavering support for the national cricket team by hosting a special event titled “Donka Vibes” at its headquarters in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The ICC Men's T20 World Cup, 2024, co-hosted by the West Indies and the USA, will be held from today to June 29.
The event -- Donka Vibes -- was organised to encourage and honour the Bangladesh cricket team as they embark on their journey to the ninth edition of the ICC World T20, according to a press release.
The event is significant for Robi Axiata Limited and the Bangladesh cricket team, as it is the first time the team will participate in the pinnacle event of ICC Men's T20 World Cup, 2024, under Robi's official sponsorship signed this year.
Robi CEO Rajeev Sethi and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials attended the event.
The Donka Vibes event was designed to boost the team's morale and underscore Robi's commitment to supporting the cricketers during this significant occasion.
The highlight of the event was the launch of Robi's new World Cup commercial, “Baje Donka”, which added to the excitement and anticipation surrounding the tournament.
Rajeev Shethi stated, “Bangladesh is one of the few nations deeply passionate about cricket. The Bangladesh team, a blend of talent, experience, and youth, is truly intimidating. Robi is proud to support Bangladesh Cricket and its fans. We are hopeful that Bangladesh will excel in the World Cup.”
Expressing his pride in the Bangladesh cricket team, Shihab Ahmad, chief commercial officer of the Robi Axiata Limited, said, "We, the entire Robi family, stand firmly behind our beloved national team. Our steadfast support for the 'Tigers' is unwavering, and this campaign embodies our commitment to them. We will be their persistent supporters throughout their journey."
In a symbolic gesture of encouragement, Robi officials signed a special good-luck cricket bat, conveying their heartfelt wishes for the team's success. This bat was later presented to the BCB officials, representing the collective support and best wishes of Robi employees.
