SHUST in Bhairab gets green light to start edu programmes

Premier Group and Premier Bank Foundation, founded by Freedom Fighter Dr HBM Iqbal, recently received approval to conduct educational programmes at the Sheikh Hasina University of Science and Technology (SHUST) located at Bashgari in Bhairab, Kishoreganj.

The university has started the admission process for the Summer Session (July, 2024), according to a press release.

On this occasion, SHUST organised a reception programme and live concert for successful students of HSC and equivalent exams of 2023 and SSC and equivalent exams of 2024.

Addressing the event, SHUST Founder Chairman Iqbal expressed hope and optimism at the beginning of a new phase in the university’s journey on its permanent campus. He said that they will invite Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to lay the foundation stone of the university and inaugurate the university.

HBM Lutfur Rahman, Trustee Board member of SHUST, attended the programme as the chief guest. HBM Shoave Rahman, Trustee Board member of SHUST, attended as a special guest along with Syed Nowsher Ali, (current charge) managing director and CEO of the Premier Bank PLC; Nasim Sekandar, additional managing director of the bank; Niamat Uddin Ahmed, deputy managing director of the bank; Brig Gen (Retd) Mohammad Golam Hossain Sarkar, adviser to Z Rahman Premier Bank School and College; and Iftekhar Hossain Benu, mayor of Bhairab Municipality, read the release.

The event was also attended by Abdus Salam Shahriar, chairman of Gajaria Union; Dr Emdadul Islam, adviser to SHUST and researcher at Sasakawa Peace Foundation, Japan; Dr Bijon Kumar Mitra, deputy managing director at the Institute of Global Environmental Strategies, Japan; Professor Dr Kozo Watanabe of the Ehime University, Japan; Professor Dr Anwar Hossain of Dhaka University, EHIME University and proposed vice-chancellor of SHUST; Professor Dr Profullo Chandra Sarkar, adviser to SHUST; Md Tareq Uddin, EVP and head of Brand Marketing and Communications at the Premier Bank, and other respected local business persons and dignitaries.

HBM Iqbal has established Dr Iqbal Education World in his hometown Bashgari to spread the light of education at Bashgari and all nearby areas. Nine years in development and spread across 300 acres of land, the massive Dr Iqbal Education World will host SHUST along with a medical college and hospital, a polytechnic institute, an engineering degree college, a nursing degree college and a sports academy, and many other opportunities for higher education for almost 45,000 students, according to the press release.

Local and international students will have the opportunity to receive high-quality education in modern and amicable environment here. Z Rahman Premier Bank School and College has already been established here along with a branch of Premier Bank.

HBM Iqbal, a scholar, successful businessman, politician and social worker, is the founder chairman of Premier Bank, one of the country’s top private commercial banks, and the chairman of the Board of Trustees of Royal University of Dhaka.
