Esrat Jahan Chowdhury, the owner of TULiKA, won the "Best New Product" award in the artisan resources category at the recent NY NOW Winter Trade Show in New York City for her exquisite jute bags manufactured in Bangladesh.
She is the chief executive officer (CEO) of Tulika Eco, and also the director of Bangladesh Jute Goods Exporters Association (BJGEA).
The Trade Facilitation Office of Canada, the SME Foundation, and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) sponsored Tulika Eco to attend the trade show in US, where more than 900 brands from more than 100 countries exhibited their products.
Tulika Eco was one of 14 Bangladeshi jute product and handicraft companies that attended. Three other Bangladeshi exhibitors made the NY NOW show finalists list.
Esrat Jahan and Tulika Eco have been producing quality jute bags and home decor items since 2017. The factory is located in Dhaka and employs more than 50 artisans, most of which are young women.
USAID congratulates all of the Bangladesh businesses who represented so well at the NY NOW show.
