University of Information and Technology Department of Civil Engineering arranged a farewell ceremony for its 34th and 35th batches at the PHP Square at the university premises on Thursday.
Dr Nur Mohammad Sumon, head of the department, chaired the event. UITS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammed Abu Hasan Bhuiyan graced the occasion as the chief guest and Bashundhara Industrial Headquarters-2 Head of Strategy, Planning, and PR Jakaria Jalal was present as the chief speaker, according to a press release.
The event was conducted by Md Manjurul Hasan Sajid, a student in the first semester of the department. Teachers, students, alumni, staff, and employees of the civil engineering department were present at the event.
Alongside extending floral greetings to the guests, cakes were also cut to bid farewell to the graduating students. Later, the students of the department organised a debate competition, indoor games, and a cultural programme.
In his speech, Abu Hasan Bhuiyan urged the graduating students to become skilled civil engineers and contribute to the welfare of the country. He emphasised the importance of maintaining connections with UITS even after graduation. He also urged the students to uphold the reputation of UITS and wished them success in their future endeavours.
Jakaria Jalal encouraged the graduating students never to lose hope in life. “Prepare yourselves to face challenges bravely and do not miss any opportunity to gain expertise and help the weak,” he added. Additionally, he emphasised the importance of professionalism among the graduating students.
Assistant Professor Ayesha Aktar and Assistant Professor and Student Welfare Adviser Mohammad Tarikul Islam also delivered speeches, along with Dr Nur Mohammad Sumon, at the event.
