11,000 Bhola farmers to get incentive for Aman farming

A total of 11,000 small and marginal farmers in all seven upazilas of Bhola will get seeds and fertilisers as agriculture incentive free of cost for the cultivation of Aman paddy in the current season.

To increase the interest of farmers in Aman cultivation, the amount of incentive support and the number of farmers have been increased significantly in the current financial year 2023-24 in the district.

The target of Aman cultivation has been fixed on 1,79,200 hectares of land under the programme, Md Hasan Waresul Kabir, deputy director of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) of the district, told BSS.

According to the agriculture office, 2,000 farmers in Sadar upazila, 1,020 in Daulatkhan upazila, 1,150 in Borhanuddin upazila, 1,300 in Lalmohan upazila, 780 in Tajumuddin upazila, 4,050 in Charfashion upazila, and 700 in Manpura upazila will get the incentive.

Under the programme, each farmer will get 5kg of Aman paddy seed, 10kg of Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilisers and 10kg of Muriate of Potash (MOP) free of cost for cultivating one bigha of land.

DAE official Hasan Waresul said distribution work of the incentive among the farmers will begin very soon.
