650 Natore farmers get incentive for Aman cultivation

A total of 650 small and marginal farmers in Bagatipara upazila of Natore have been given seeds and fertilisers free of cost as agricultural incentives for the cultivation of Aman paddy in the current season.

To increase the interest of farmers in Aman paddy cultivation, the amount of incentive support and the numbers of farmers have been increased significantly in the district, the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) said.

Member of Parliament of Natore-1 constituency (Lalpur and Bagatipara) Md Shihedul Islam (Bakul) inaugurated the distribution function and handed over the incentive among the farmers of the upazila as the chief guest Saturday morning with Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nilufa Sarkar in the chair.

The upazila administration and the upazila agriculture office jointly organised the distribution function held in the Upazila Parishad auditorium.

The chief guest said the present government is farmer-friendly as it has taken various steps for development of agriculture and is working relentlessly for the development of agriculture and farmers. As a result, production of food in the country has increased manifold, he added.

According to the DAE, 450 farmers were given 5kg of Aman seeds, 10kg of Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and 10kg of Muriate of Potash (MOP) fertilisers each.

A total of 100 farmers were given 2kg of hybrid Aman seeds each and 100 farmers were given one kg of summer onion seeds, 20kg of DAP and 20kg of MOP fertilisers and Tk 2,800 for maintenance each, the DAE said.
