DAE asks farmers to harvest paddy, other crops early

The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) has directed farmers across the country to harvest 80 per cent of ripe paddy, mango and other crops to avoid the possible damages during the upcoming cyclone Mocha.

DAE issued a press release in this regard on Tuesday saying there is a possibility that the cyclone may damage the crops in Bangladesh.

It also asked the authorities concerned to take necessary measures for carrying out massive campaigns at the field level across the country to make the farmers aware of the cyclone.

It also advised the officials concerned to stay at their respective working places during the time of the cyclone.

Meanwhile, the well-marked low over Southeast Bay and adjoining South Andaman Sea moved North-Northeastwards and intensified into a depression, then into a deep depression over Southeast Bay and adjoining areas and was centered this morning.

It is likely to intensify further and move in a North-Northwesterly direction till 11 May 2023, Bangladesh Meteorological Department said in its latest bulletin.
