DAE distributes Tk2.3cr to Khulna farmers

The government is distributing incentives worth Tk 2.3 crore among 33,600 small and marginal farmers of the Khulna agriculture region during the current season.

Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Khulna Zone has begun distribution of seeds and fertilizers instead of cash money to nearly 33,600 listed farmers of the region.

Each farmer is getting the incentives for 10 kinds of agricultural crops against one bigha (33 shatak) of land to enhance Rabi crops production in the region.

DAE is distributing incentives among the farmers to assist them in cultivating 10 varieties of crops during the current Rabi season, DAE office sources said.

"Distribution of the incentives for cultivating wheat, maize, mustard, groundnut, BT brinjal and Aman rice has been completed by July while the distribution for cultivating Tiil and mung bean will end by November," said Additional Director of DAE, Khulna region, Mohon Kumar Ghosh.

Under the programme, each of the beneficiary farmers has received one to 20 kg seeds of different crops, 10 to 27 kg Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and five to 10 kg Muriate of Potash (MoP) fertilisers free of cost to cultivate the crops on one bigha of land.

Farmers of the region are now very busy producing Rabi crops, and vegetables, he said, adding that the government has taken various steps for increasing the crop production in the region.
