Jute incentive for 18,000 farmers allotted in Jamalpur

The agriculture department will disburse an incentive among small and marginal farmers on jute in Jamalpur in the upcoming Kharip season-1.

According to the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) office, 18,000 small and marginal farmers in all seven upazilas of the district will get the incentive.

The office said each of the farmers will get one kilogram of jute seed for cultivating one bigha of land.

DAE Additional Deputy Director Muhammad Harun-Or-Rashid said BJRI Tosha-8 variety seed will be distributed among the farmers.

He said the seed is high-quality jute which can grow 3.5 tonnes of jute fibre per hectare.

Muhammad Harun said the farmers will be benefited from thick jute fibre of the variety. The incentive will be disbursed among the farmers soon, he added.
