Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi has said it is possible to attain a sustainable agriculture-based development in Bangladesh by implementing an agro-model similar to Spain’s Almeria.

“Almeria, once an impoverished province of the European country, now is a model to the world in agricultural success. The agricultural development of Almeria could be a beacon for Bangladesh,” the minister said this while addressing a meeting .

Tipu Mushi, who led a delegation in Spain, attended the meeting organised by the commercial wing of the Bangladesh embassy and Almeria Chamber of Commerce, said a press release received on Saturday.

“Bangladesh is an agricultural country as well and people have skills in agriculture. We have huge potential in the sector,” he said.

“Sustainable agriculture-based development is possible in Bangladesh through implementation of appropriate technology and proper action plan.”

The minister stressed the importance of deepening the relationship of both the countries in order to implement the agricultural model of Almeria in Bangladesh.

He also called for bolstering the business sector ties between the two countries.

“The success can be achieved through exchange of experiences,” Tipu added.
