The standard of passenger services at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport has changed remarkably with measures taken to stop harassment and domination of luggage-cutting gangs and to ensure quick release of luggage.
“We’re working to improve the standard of the passenger services. A special cautionary measure has been taken to check the stealing of belongings and goods by cutting the luggage of air passengers. The expatriate workers have been expressing satisfaction over the quick release of the luggage,” said an official familiar with the process.
A total of 54 employees have been working at the expatriate welfare desk round the clock to improve the standard of the airport services, which has changed the scenario overnight, he said.
The free WiFi and help desk services are now available at the airport.
“Ten telephone booths have so far been installed at the airport from which one can talk over the phone free of cots,” he said.
Talking to this correspondent, some passengers expressed their satisfaction over the services extended to them at the airport, saying that the harassment has been declined manifolds.
“So, we are feeling comfort,” said a passenger.
Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Air Vice Marshal Md Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan told newsmen that they made the help desks and telephone booths operative at the airport to offer hassle-free services to airport users.
“We are currently giving special attention to expatriates,” he added.
