For the first time, US-Bangla Airlines has started operating flights from Bangladesh to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
With this, the private airliner now has flights to three destinations — Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi — in the UAE, one of the friendly countries of the Middle East.
US-Bangla Airlines General Manager (Public Relations) Md Kamrul Islam confirmed the development and said that a Boeing 737-800 with 174 passengers took off from Chattogram at 5:50pm on Friday as the airliner’s inaugural flight to Abu Dhabi.
The flight will reach Abu Dhabi at 9:10pm Friday local time as per the schedule. Then it will fly start for Dhaka at 10:10pm local time from Abu Dhabi and is expected to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 4:50am Saturday, he said.
Kamrul also said that as part of the future plans, due to the demand of expatriate Bangladeshis, US-Bangla flights will leave for Abu Dhabi from Dhaka on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday and from Chattogram on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at 5:50pm.
He said that as a friendly country, the decision to operate US-Bangla flights to Abu Dhabi will further strengthen the ties between the two countries.
Apart from Dubai and Sharjah, US-Bangla also operates flights to Muscat, Doha, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Male, Bangkok, Kolkata and Chennai in India, and one of the commercial cities of China – Guangzhou.
Apart from the international routes, US-Bangla is also operating domestic flights from Dhaka to Cox's Bazar, Chattogram, Sylhet, Saidpur, Jashore and Rajshahi.
