The country received investment proposals worth Tk 34,022 crore from some 259 industrial units during the April-June period of the current year with a 37.07 per cent growth in amount compared to the April-June period of 2022.
These 259 industrial units were registered with the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) during this period.
During the April-June period of 2022, the total investment proposals were around Tk 24,821 crore.
According to a press release of the BIDA, Tk 28,564 crore came as local investment proposals while Tk 5,457 crore were foreign investment proposals.
Out of the 259 industrial units, some 228 industrial units are local, some 20 units are foreign, and 11 industrial units are in joint ventures.
In the last three months, foreign investment has received maximum investment proposals in the engineering industry sector.
There were also significant investment proposals in service industries, printing and publishing industries, food and allied industries and miscellaneous industries.
The BIDA hoped that a total of 57,145 new employment opportunities would be created in a total of 259 industries.
