Bangladesh growing in all economic sectors: Kamal

Finance Minister AHM Mostafa Kamal on Sunday said that Bangladesh has been able to promote itself to a developing country from a low-income country and the milestone has been achieved under the great leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The country is progressing in all sectors of the economy. For the economic growth, the country has been praised all over the world, the minister said while attending a program organized to celebrate Bangladesh transition to a developing country.

The event was organised by the Department of Economic Relations at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital.

Kamal also said it took 19 years for us to reach a $100 billion economy. Now, we have reached $411 billion dollars and the per capita income increased to $2,554. In the next fiscal year our economy will expand to $500 billion dollars.

Recently our foreign reserve jumped from $45 billion to $46 billion dollars and hopefully, in the running fiscal year the reserve will reach $50 billion, he added.

The literacy rate has increased, poverty is declining. The annual development programs have also increased.  The country also doing good amid the pandemic in contrast to many other countries in the world, said the minister.

He also hopes that by 2030 Bangladesh will become a hunger-free developed country.

Bangladesh will be a happy and developed country by 2041 and the country will achieve the targeted milestone to be the dreamland of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Kamal added.
