All banking services of Exim Bank Limited will remain temporarily suspended from April 28 to May 5 to upgrade its core banking software T-24, duly approved by Bangladesh Bank.
During this period, all kinds of banking services, including ATM booths, debit card services, internet banking, digital banking, Islamic banking, and agent banking, will remain suspended, said a press release on Wednesday.
However, credit and prepaid cardholders of Exim Bank can withdraw cash using other banks’ ATMs and can make payments at the merchant points.
Department of Off-Site Supervision (DOS) of Bangladesh Bank has given permission to close the banking operation and issued a circular in this regard on Wednesday.
The festival of Eid-ul-Fitr, which is just two weeks away, is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide and across the country, and there will be a huge rush for cash withdrawals.
‘We are fully aware that our customers would face difficulties in making necessary cash withdrawals and getting banking services,” said an official of Exim Bank’s public relations team.
“However, after considering all the possible drawbacks, we decided that this seven-day period would be more convenient for us to carry out the upgrades,” he added, thanking the Central Bank for allowing the suspension of operation.
The bank has 131 branches, 5 sub-branches and 155 ATM booths all over the country.
