FBCCI urges govt not to raise bank interest rate

Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) has urged the government not to increase bank interest rates from the current 9 per cent amid the country's predicament.

FBCCI President Md Jashim Uddin Jashim made the remark at the Economic Reporters Forum (ERF) auditorium in Dhaka on Saturday.

In order to gain development country status by 2041 and attract more foreign direct investment (FDI), Jashim also urged the government to establish a developed tax structure.

"The trouble facing the industry and the economy may deepen if the electricity and gas crisis can't be overcome soon," Jashim Uddin said.

Jashim also laid emphasis on building skilled manpower to meet job market demand by reducing industry and academia gap.
