The Bangladesh Bank has directed all scheduled banks to install CCTV cameras to ensure the security of deployments of the banks.
The central bank issued a notification in this regard on Tuesday.
The regulator asked the banks to set up CCTV cameras in IT rooms, headquarters, branches, the centre of the business, booths, and around the building.
Essential deployments will have to be monitored under the CCTV cameras, and the footage of the camera has to be recorded in one year, the notification added.
The banks will have to take necessary steps to preserve the CCTV footage, and if law enforcement agencies need any footage, banks should be able to hand over the data.
Earlier in 2013, the central bank published a circular where the regulator had mentioned that a multi-story building collapsed in Savar. For that incident, the structural security of banks was blamed.
