Mobile Financial Services (MFS) transactions touched an all-time high of Tk 1.48 lakh crore in March this year, according to the latest data from Bangladesh Bank (BB).

The highest was in June last year with over Tk 1.32 lakh crore in transactions.

According to the latest data, MFS transactions soared by 13.98 per cent in March, compared to the previous month.

According to a central bank report, 608.7 million transactions were made using MFS, such as bKash, Nagad and Rocket, in March.

Talking to The Business Post, Shamsuddin Haider Dalim, the head of corporate communications at the country's largest MFS company bKash, noted that people's habits are rapidly evolving as they are embracing digital platforms.

From day-to-day shopping to commuting, individuals are increasingly relying on digital services for transactions, where MFS plays a significant role. Responding to this demand, companies are stepping up their investments to expand their digital platforms, he said.

Shamsuddin also pointed out that MFS transactions soared as the Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated in the second week of April.
