M/s Nova Intima Limited, a Hong Kong-British Virgin Islands owned ladies undergarments manufacturing company, signed an agreement with Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) on Monday to invest $28 million in the BEPZA Economic Zone.

BEPZA member (investment promotion) Ali Reza Mazid and Nova Intima Limited Managing Director Vijay Uttam inked the deal on behalf of their respective organisations at BEPZA Complex in Dhaka, a press release said.

BEPZA Executive Chairman Maj Gen Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman was present on the occasion.

Nova Intima will produce annually 60 million units of ladies undergarments and fabrics along with accessories for producing those undergarments.

As many as 5,625 Bangladesh nationals will get employment opportunities in the factory.

The owner of the Nova Intima has two other companies in Chattogram and Karnaphuli export processing zones with an investment of $22 million for producing ladies undergarments, read the release.

Around 6,000 Bangladesh nationals are working in these factories.

Member (engineering) Mohammad Faruque Alam, member (finance) Nafisa Banu, Executive Director (Administration) Md Zakir Hossain Chowdhury, Executive Director (Public Relations) Nazma Binte Alamgir, Executive Director (Investment Promotion) Md Tanvir Hossain, Executive Director (Enterprise Services) Md Khorshid Alam and Project Director of BEPZA EZ Md Hafizur Rahman, among others, were present during the agreement signing ceremony.

Meanwhile, a total of 11 enterprises, including Nova Intima Limited, signed agreements with BEPZA to establish industries in the economic zone to invest $243.71 million.
