The Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation (BSEC) on Sunday inaugurated a One Stop Sales and Service Centre at the city’s BSEC building in Karwan Bazar area, marking the 103rd birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

BSEC Chairman Md Shahidul Haque Bhunya launched the centre at a ceremony, which was attended by BSEC Finance Director Md Monirul Islam, Commercial Director Haider Jahan Faras, and Planning and Development Director Badrun Nahar.

Addressing the event, Shahidul said, “Customers can directly purchase any product and seek information and services from all BSEC institutions from the one-stop sales and service centre.”

The BSEC is making an important contribution to the economic development of the country, and BSEC companies are supporting the country’s power sector by manufacturing electrical equipment.

For example, Eastern Cables Ltd makes electric cables, GEMCO Ltd makes transformers, Eastern Tubes Ltd makes fluorescent tube lights, CFL and LED Bulbs, Gazi Wires Ltd makes super enamel copper wire.

BSEC's industrial company Pragati Industries Ltd is contributing to the country's transport sector by supplying buses, trucks, and jeeps, while Atlas Bangladesh Ltd is making motorcycles. Meanwhile, National Tubes Ltd makes GI/MM/API Pipe, and Dhaka Steel Works Ltd makes MS Rod.

Eastern Cables Ltd, an industrial company of BSEC, has exported goods worth around $5 lakh in FY22, and completed the contract to export goods worth $42 lakh in FY23. Besides, Pragati Industries Ltd has earned a profit of Tk 34.83 crore.
