Budget FY23: Allocation for ICT Division up, Posts, Telecom Division down

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has proposed an increase of Tk 185 crore in allocation for the ICT Division to Tk 1,916 crore and a decrease of Tk 62 crore in allocation for the Posts and Telecommunications Division to Tk 2,487 crore. 

Kamal came up with the proposal while placing his fourth budget for the fiscal year 2022-2023 in the Jatiya Sangshad on Thursday.

The minister proposed an allocation of a total Tk 4,403 for the two divisions. He allocated Tk 1,916 for the ICT Division which is 195 crore (11.33 per cent) more than the proposed allocation in the previous year’s budget.  He also allocated Tk 2,487 crores for the Posts and Telecommunications Division which is Tk 62 crore (2.43 per cent) less compared to the proposal in the previous fiscal year’s budget.

For the current 2021-2022 fiscal year, the finance minister had proposed Tk 4,270 crore for the two divisions while Tk 17,21 crore was allocated for the ICT Division and Tk 2,549 crore for the Posts and Telecommunications Division.

However, the revised budgetary allocation for the two divisions was Tk 3,574 crore with Tk 1,642 crore for the ICT division and Tk 1,932 crore for the Posts and Telecom Division.
