Allocation for defence increases by Tk 1,735cr

In the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2023-24, the defence sector has been allocated Tk 42,095 crore, which reflects an increase of Tk 1,735 crore compared to the previous fiscal year.

Initially, an allocation of Tk 40,360 crore was proposed for the defence sector in the financial year 2022-23.

However, this amount was later revised to Tk 36,650 crore.

According to the budget proposed for the fiscal year 2023-24, the defence sector's allocation accounts for 5.25 per cent of the total budget.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal presented this proposal in his budget speech in parliament with Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
