President approves budget to be placed in JS

President Mohammed Shahabuddin on Thursday authenticated the national budget for 2023-24 fiscal and the revised budget for 2022-23 for placing before the Jatiya Sangsad.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal placed the country's 52nd budget and the 24th under the Awami League government over five terms while this budget for FY24 is the 5th consecutive budget of the incumbent finance minister.

President authenticated the national budget of over Taka 7.61 lakh crore for the next fiscal year (FY24) at his office Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban (parliament complex) at about 2:45 this afternoon.

Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and Senior Secretary of Internal Resources Division (IRD) Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneen, Finance Division’s Senior Secretary Fatima Yasmin, and secretaries concerned to the Bangabhaban, among others, were present on the occasion.

Earlier, on his arrival at the Sangsad Bhaban, the President was received by Jatiya Sangsad Deputy Speaker Advocate Md Shamsul Hoque Tuku, Chief Whip Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury, and senior officials concerned.

He also exchanged views with the officials and employees of the Jatiya Sangsad.
