Tk2,63,000cr ADP proposed in FY24 budget

The government has proposed a Tk 2,63,000 crore Annual Development Programme (ADP) for the upcoming FY2023-24, in which transport and energy sectors will get the highest allocations.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Thursday placed the proposed national budget of Tk 7,61,785 crore for FY24 in parliament.

In FY24 ADP, Tk 94,000 crore will come from foreign assistance and Tk 1,69,000 crore from the government exchequer. Considering an allocation of Tk 11,674.02 crore for autonomous bodies and corporations, the overall ADP size will reach Tk 2,74,674.02 crore.

Meanwhile, the government approved the Revised ADP (RADP) of Tk 2,27,566 crore for FY2022-23 from the original Tk 2,46,066 crore, by trimming Tk 18,500 from foreign assistance. The government is funding Tk 1,53,066 crore and Tk 74,500 crore will come from foreign funds in the RAPD.

The total number of projects in the new ADP is 1,309, including 1,118 investment projects, 22 survey projects, 80 technical assistance projects and 89 projects from autonomous bodies and corporations.

Transportation and power sectors received the highest allocation in FY24 ADP. Transport got the highest Tk 75,945 crore or 28.88 per cent and the power sector Tk 44,393 crore or 16.88 per cent.

In the new ADP, Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Project received an allocation of Tk 9,707 crore; Matarbari 2x600 MW Ultra Super Critical Coal Fired Power Project, 1st revised with Tk 9,081 crore; 4th Primary Education Development Programme (PEDP-4), 1st revised with Tk 8,586 crore; Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway Construction, 1st revised with Tk 5,870 crore; the Padma Bridge Rail Link, 1st revised project with Tk 5,500 crore; Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Expansion, 1st phase, 1st revised with Tk 5,499 crore; Physical Feasibility Development (PFD), 1st revised with Tk 4,696 crore; Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Development Project (Line-1) with Tk 3,911 crore; Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Railway Bridge Construction project with Tk 3,778 crore; and Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Development Project (Line-6), 2nd revised with Tk 3,425 crore.
