Govt takes steps to ensure compliance in 1,550 RMG factories during FY25

Finance Minister AH Mahmood Ali in his budget speech on Thursday said a target has been set to ensure compliance in 1,550 factories in the ready-made garment sector during fiscal year 2024-25 (FY25) with a view to ensuring a decent work environment.

Placing the national budget for fiscal year 2024-25 in the Jatiya Sangsad, Ali said to ensure overall welfare and improve workers' living standards; the process of creating a database by including information of 3,00,000 workers in the first phase through a software named 'Labor Information Management System (LIMS)' is underway, reports BSS.

Together with this, a target has also been set to provide free primary healthcare services to 3,76,000 workers and recreational services to 4,55,000 workers, he said, adding that apart from this, to protect the fundamental rights of workers, a target has been set to provide training to 49,500 workers.
