The business community has offered their support to the interim government in taking measures against money laundering and bank looters.
This pledge came in a meeting between business leaders and central bank Governor Ahsan H Mansoor on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters, former president of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industries (FBCCI) Abdul Awal Mintu said, “Those who laundered money and looted banks are not actually businessmen, as they have not created any wealth in the country.
“The governor will take firm action against those culprits. The incumbent FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam is fully in favour of this move, and has offered every kind of cooperation on his behalf.”
Along with the FBCCI, leaders of several business organisations including Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) were present in Tuesday’s meeting.
