The Chittagong Port has set a record in container handling and goods transport in the first month of the new year.
A record number of 2,92,000 single containers were unloaded at the port in January this year alone,
Chittagong Port Secretary Omar Farooq confirmed the matter on Sunday.
He said the port is always active to keep the container handling activities while the authorities are always vigilant so that the containers do not get entangled.
According to the data, an average of 2,68,000 TEUS containers have been handled in the port every month last year.
The container handling was 2,80,000 units in January 2021, the data said.
