Cyclone Sitrang which lashed the Bangladesh coast on Monday night caused damages to around 10,000 houses in 419 unions across the country.
“The natural calamity also damaged 6,000 hectares of cropland,” State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Md Enamur Rahman came up with the information at a briefing at the secretariat in Dhaka on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Met office said the cyclonic storm completed its landfall and weakened to a tropical depression over Bangladesh early Tuesday.

The state minister said nine deaths have so far been reported after Sitrang hit the country.
“As many as 10 lakh people were taken to around 7,000 shelters. They, however, left the shelters by Tuesday morning.”
