The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) on Tuesday called for forming a joint working commission engaging the private sector to strengthen bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Vietnam.

DCCI President Rizwan Rahman made the call at a programme titled, "Bangladesh-Vietnam Business Networking Meeting" at the trade body’s office in Dhaka.

"The two countries have a win-win situation in trade and economy. We should take the opportunity to work together," Rizwan said.

He noted the bilateral trade between the two countries is very low. “So, connectivity is very important to increase the trade volume.”

The bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Vietnam reached $739.89 million in FY21, he informed.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Bangladesh Pham Viet Chien underscored the need for support each other to strengthen the relationship though both countries have been maintaining a very close friendship for long.

"I invite Bangladesh's delegation in Vietnam to work together," he added.
