The interim government has decided to formulate a white paper on the current economic situation of Bangladesh, titled “Preparation of a White Paper on the State of the Economy.”
To this end, a committee will be formed, tasked with preparing the white paper within the next 90 days after its formulation, read a press release issued by the chief adviser’s press wing on Wednesday.
The committee will be led by eminent economist Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya, who will be responsible for selecting its members in consultation with the chief adviser.
These members will serve without remuneration, and the committee’s office will likely be located in one of the buildings within the Planning Commission complex, sources say.
Speaking to The Business Post on Wednesday night, Dr Debapriya said, “The chief advisor took the right decision at the right time. I am grateful for that. I think the white paper will be an important document for the country. The move will be exemplary in the future.
“I will soon form a committee with suitable and qualified people.”
