A week-long Divisional SME Products Fair began in Rajshahi on Thursday with the aim of promoting the local small and medium enterprise (SME) sector, enhancing the production of quality SME products, exhibition and introduction of SME goods for expanding business, trade and commerce.
The SME Foundation under the Ministry of Industries is hosting the fair at Green Plaza of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC), according to a press release.
At the fair, locally produced SME goods are being exhibited in 60 stalls.
Rajshahi city Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton addressed the opening ceremony as chief guest, while SME Foundation Chairperson Md Masudur Rahman was in the chair.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (Rajshahi Range) Md Abdul Baten, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Commissioner Md Anisur Rahman, Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil, and RCCI President Masudur Rahman were present as special guests.
SME Foundation General Manager Md. Nazeem Hassan Satter delivered the welcome speech at the event.
The fair will remain open for all from 10am to 9pm every day until January 18.
Alongside Rajshahi, the week-long Divisional SME Products Fair will begin in Barishal on February 1, in Sylhet on February 5, and in Dinajpur under Rangpur division on February 12, read the release.
Besides, the SME Foundation plans to organise the fair in Mymensingh and Khulna divisions in March.
