PHP Ship Breaking and Recycling Industries Ltd Managing Director Mohammed Zahirul Islam called upon all to dream the dream that will not let them sleep.

Zahirul Islam, who pioneered a new era in the shipbreaking industry of Bangladesh, made the call while speaking as a special guest at the Norwegian Shipowners' Association annual conference, held in Oslo on March 14 this year.

He was invited to share his experience of how he achieved the first-ever international recognition as an environmentally friendly shipyard in the history of Bangladesh's ship recycling industry, through a difficult journey.

At the programme, Zahirul Islam also discussed how the shipbreaking industry can thrive while navigating through different hurdles in a rapidly changing geo-political context, following international policies and utilising new technologies.

The conference was attended by more than 350 guests from different countries, including ministers from different Norwegian ministries, politicians, delegations from the Norwegian maritime industry, ship owners, special envoys and dignitaries.
