State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam has said sufficient allocation has been proposed in the national budget for the education sector.

He said there is no alternative to ensure qualitative education for taking the nation forward. So, the present government under the prudent and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has attached top priority to the education sector.

The state minister came up with the observation while inaugurating the newly built fourth floor of the academic building of Arani Monmohini Government High School under Bagha Upazila in the district on Friday night as the chief guest.

Shahriar Alam told the meeting that the country attained remarkable success in all development sectors due to the consistency of Sheikh Hasina's government for the last 13 consecutive years.

The state minister said now none needs to come to him with the problems related to power and road communication and the application for the construction of school buildings has been reduced to half as most of the educational institutions have got buildings.

He also said concerted efforts of the government and non-government organisations concerned have become crucial to free the society from the abuse of drugs through creating mass awareness.

Focusing on creating mass awareness to check the abuse of drugs, he said full-length support from public representatives and communities can be the best way to contain the abuse of drugs.

"We have to build a healthy society to achieve sustainable development goals," he said, adding movements against drug abuse should be turned into a social movement.

He urged all concerned to work along with the government to prevent drug abuse.

With Upazila Nirbahi Officer Papia Sultana in the chair, the meeting was also addressed by some local Awami League leaders.
