President Mohammed Shahabuddin on Sunday underlined the need for ensuring that public money is spent properly.
He said this when Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of Bangladesh Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury presented the annual audit and accounting reports to him at Bangabhaban, President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin said.
Shahabuddin said the importance of audits to ensure discipline in the financial sector is immense.
Besides, the president directed the authorities concerned to be more proactive in resolving audit objections.
The CAG briefed the president about various aspects of the report. He submitted 47 audit and accounting reports to the president.
President's Office Secretary Sampad Barua and Military Secretary Maj Gen SM Salahuddin Islam were also present.
Army chief meets President
Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed on Sunday paid a courtesy call on President Shahabuddin at Bangabhaban.
President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
During the meeting, the army chief briefed the president about the overall activities of the Bangladesh Army.
He highlighted the various steps taken for the development of the army and the progress of implementation.
President Shahabuddin expressed his satisfaction with the activities of the army and said the development activities of the army will continue in light of Forces Goal-2030.
Mentioning the glory of the Bangladesh army, the president hoped that the army would continue its activities for socio-economic development alongside protecting the sovereignty of the country.
During the meeting, the army chief also briefed the president about various aspects of his recent visit to India.
