Bangladesh witnessed a 7.85 per cent negative growth in export earnings in October, compared to the same month year-on-year.

According to the Export Promotion Bureau's (EPB) monthly provisional export data released Wednesday, the country earned $4.36 billion in exports in October, a drop from $4.73 billion posted in the same month in 2021.

The figure is 12.87 per cent less than the export target set for October. The government had fixed a $5 billion export target for the month. In the first four months of FY23 (July-October), the earnings stood at $16.85 billion, showing a 7.01 per cent year-on-year growth compared to FY22.

The figure is 3.25 per cent less than the export target.

During these four months, the apparel sector earned $13.95 billion, which is 10.55 per cent higher year-on-year, and 0.74 per cent less than the export target.
