Exports witness 6.25% negative growth in September

Bangladesh's export earnings witnessed a 6.25 per cent negative growth in September compared to the same month of the last fiscal year.

The country exported goods worth $3.9 billion last month while the earnings were $4.16 billion in the same period in 2021, show monthly provisional data released by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) on Sunday.

However, in the first three months (July-September) of FY23, the earnings stood at $12.5 billion, showing a 13.38 per cent year-on-year growth.

The figure is only 0.62 per cent higher than the export target.

The single-month exports of RMG items in September witnessed a fall of 7.52 per cent to $3.16 billion, which was $3.42 billion in the same period the previous year.

Earlier, Bangladesh’s export earnings witnessed a robust 36.18 per cent growth to $4.61 billion in August, compared to $3.38 billion posted in the same month last year.
