Focus on quality to formulate logistics policy: Experts to govt

National and international logistical experts on Thursday urged the government to focus on quality logistics efficiency, quality of logistics, improvement of the logistics infrastructure, and regional connectivity while formulating the National Logistics Industry Development Policy to develop a balanced multimodal transport system.

They also urged the government to utilise rail and water inland ways to cut down business costs.

The experts came up with the recommendation at the closing of a two-day long workshop titled, “Formulation of National Logistics Industry Development Policy for Bangladesh: Experience from Global Good Practices” organised by the Ministry Industries (MoI), Business Initiative Leading Development (BUILD), and the World Bank Group (WBG) at hotel InterContinental in Dhaka.

In the first session, Road Transport and Highways Division Secretary AB M Amin Ullah Nuri presented keynote paper titled “Balancing Multimodal Transport System for Logistics Competitiveness” while Shipping Ministry Secretary Md Mostafa Kamal chaired the session.

The leader of the Railways Community of Practice at the World Bank Martha B Lawrence also presents another keynote paper in the session.
