Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (BAJUS) on Monday declared to reduce the price of gold by 2 per cent, or Tk 1,983 per bhori ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr after historical hike to more than Tk 1 lakh per bhori in April.

The new price will be effective from Tuesday, said MA Hannan Azad, chairman of BAJUS standing committee on fixing and monitoring prices.

From now on, 22-carat gold will cost Tk 97,161 down from Tk 99,144 per bhori, read a press release.

With this, the minimum making charge Tk 3,499 per bhori and VAT at the rate of 5 per cent Tk 4,858 per bhori is added and the net cost will be at Tk 1,05,000 per bhori, down from Tk 1,07,775 per bhori.

According to the new price, 21-carat gold has been reduced by Tk 1,924 to Tk 92,729, down from Tk 94,653 per bhori.

The price of 18-carat gold has been reduced by Tk 1,633 to Tk 79,790, down from Tk 81,123 per bhori. And traditional gold price has been reduced by Tk 1,341 to Tk 66,252, down from Tk 67,593 per bhori.
