Gold prices rise by Tk 2,741 per bhori within 24hrs

Jewellers in the country have increased gold prices by Tk 2,741 per bhori within 24 hours.

Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) came up with the decision on Thursday after the rates rise in the international and local bullion markets.

The revised prices will be effective from Friday, said a press release issued by the association.

According to the new rate, 22-carat (11.664gm) gold will cost Tk 81,298 per bhori, which was Tk 78,557.

Earlier on Wednesday, Bajus raised gold prices by at Tk1,341.

Under the new rates, the local markets will sell 21-carat gold at Tk 77,566 per bhori which was Tk 74,999 and 18-carat gold at Tk 66,485 per bhori which was Tk 64,268.

Meanwhile, the price for traditional method gold has been set at Tk 55,171 per bhori which was Tk 52,721.

However, BAJUS has kept the price of silver unchanged.

Each bhori of 22-carat silver will be sold at Tk 1,516, while 21-carat and 18-carat silver are still available at Tk 1,435 and Tk 1,225, respectively.

BAJUS has urged all jewellery businesses in the country to sell gold at new rates until further notice.

On May 21, Gold price was in a record high at Tk 82,464 a bhori.
