The Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) has signed an agreement with the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Program (SICIP) of the Ministry of Finance (MoF) to create 10,000 more skilled workers in the housing sector.

REHAB President Md Wahiduzzaman signed the agreement with SICIP Executive Program Director Mohammed Walid Hossain at Probashi Kallyan Bhaban on Tuesday.

A comprehensive high-level training will be offered in four trades under this programme - electrical installation and maintenance, plumbing and pipe fittings, machinery and steel binding, tiles and marble work.

The training will be provided at no cost and will last for four months. After completing the training, participants will have the opportunity to work both in Bangladesh and abroad.

Wahiduzzaman said, “Earlier, REHAB has successfully provided training to 21,000 construction workers through various training institutes across the country and of which, 90 per cent have worked in various foreign developer companies and contribute to the economy.”

Walid Hossain stated, “REHAB’s training quality is pretty satisfying and the number of women students in this training was unprecedented. I hope REHAB will contribute to providing skilful training for the construction sector.”

REHAB Senior Vice President Liakat Ali Bhuiyan, Vice President Abdul Latif, Vice President (finance) Abdur Razzaque, REHAB- SICIP Project Chief Coordinator Kazi Abul Kashem, senior officials of both REHAB and SICIP were present among others.
