The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has lauded Bangladesh for its proactive economic management amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Quoting the IMF Deputy Managing Director (DMD) Antoinette Monsio Sayeh, Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Mezbaul Haque on Sunday said this after a meeting with IMF at the central bank headquarters in Dhaka.
A four-member IMF delegation, including its DMD Antoinette Sayeh, had a meeting with the central bank’s senior officials. Bangladesh Bank Governor Abdur Rouf Talukder attended the meeting.
The IMF team arrived in Dhaka on Saturday on a five-day visit.
Mezbaul said the issues of discussion at the meeting included challenges to be faced in the upcoming monetary policy.
He said the meeting also discussed several issues, including climate financing from the IMF.
The issues of the capacity building faced by the government and the Bangladesh Bank were also discussed, he added.
According to the finance ministry sources, Sayeh came to Dhaka from Delhi after completing her Indian visit.
