India allocates Rs 300cr for Bangladesh as financial aid for 2022

India on Tuesday announced Rs 300 crore allocated as financial aid to Bangladesh in the 2022-2023 (April-March) financial year. The aid provision saw an increase, which was Rs 200 crore in the outgoing fiscal 2021-2022.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made the announcement in Parliament while presenting the budget, Indian news media DNA reported.

The allocation for financial assistance has been provided for the ministry of external affairs, the overall budget of which has been increased to Rs 17250 crore for FY2022-2023 (vs Rs 14329 crore in FY2020-21).

India also allocated Myanmar Rs 600 crore for FY2022-23, versus Rs 400 crore in FY2020-21. The allocation for Nepal was Rs 750 crore for FY2022-23, versus Rs 992 crore in FY2020-21.

Meanwhile, despite not recognising the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, India allocated Rs 200 crore as aid support to the country in FY2022-23, which was a decrease as compared to Rs 350 crore in FY2020-21.
