Walton-BSPA Sports Carnival 2024 is set to kick off from Tuesday. The Bangladesh Sports Press Association (BSPA) has been organising this event for the last ten years, and the country's electronics giant Walton Hi-Tech Industries Plc remains its sponsor for the past seven years.
This time, more than a hundred BSPA members will participate in ten events under seven disciplines. These events are - Carrom Singles and Doubles, Table Tennis Singles and Doubles, Chess, Shooting, Archery, Swimming, Call Bridge and Twenty Nine.
The games will be held at the Bangabandhu National Stadium and various venues adjacent to it, said organisers at a press conference held in the Bangabandhu National Stadium meeting room on Sunday.
BSPA President Rezwan Uz Zaman Rajib, Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC Senior Executive Director FM Iqbal Bin Anwar (Don), and Senior Deputy Executive Director Rabiul Islam Milton, BSPA General Secretary Md Saman Hossain and chairman of sports sub-committee Kazi Shahidul Alam were present there.
On Tuesday at 11:30 am, this year's sports carnival will start with Carrom discipline at the BSPA office.
Senior Executive Director FM Iqbal Bin Anwar (Don) and Senior Deputy Executive Director Rabiul Islam Milton of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC will inaugurate the sports carnival as chief guests.
Abdul Mannan Ladu Trophy and cash prize will be given to the best athletes of the sports carnival. Trophies and cash prizes are also available for the top two runners-up. Besides, crest and prize money for the best in each event.
