Inflation drops to 8.91% in Oct

The country's inflation has dropped to 8.91 per cent in October which was 9.1 per cent in September, Planning Minister MA Mannan said Tuesday.

The minister disclosed the inflation data after a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday.

Bangladesh's inflation reached 9.5 per cent in August due to rising commodity prices and record hikes in fuel prices. But it declined to 9.1 per cent in September.

According to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), food inflation stood at 8.50 per cent in October dropping from 9.08 per cent in September.

The nonfood inflation dropped to 9.58 per cent in October from 9.13 per cent in September.
